Fashion Reflecting Culture

Hello Everyone! Fashion reflects culture. Trendsetters in India are wearing very different ensembles than the stylish of France. When you look through the pages of British Vogue you see more traditional and elegant designs while when you look through Paris Vogue you see nudity and everything else that comes along with provocative new Parisian fashion. When flipping through these different magazines you see lots of references to America and more specifically American Culture. The cover of British Vogue headlines with an article about Ralph Lauren, “An American in London.” Ralph Lauren is the face of American fashion, the Olympic outfitter of the USA team. Parisian Vogue has articles on Miley Cyrus and Ellen DeGeneres. Not only have other countries’ magazines been impacted with our very present American media, but the covers of Vogue each month are based around a celebrity instead of a model, culture over fashion. The Moschino lines are celebrating media, these comical designs are all the rage and I too love them! Spongebob clutches and turtlenecks, McDonald’s visors and happy meal purses. Chanel transformed their runway show into a grocery mart. Media and culture are breaking down boundaries of conventional fashion and instead replacing them with every comedic touch there is!
