There is nothing more satisfying than seeing someone wear a plain white t-shirt. A white t-shirt is casual. It can be paired to look rocker or just thrown on to be laid back. Either way, one should always live in your closet. A white t-shirt gives you a blank slate, and thereby asks you to wear it. It asks you to put your spunk and energy into it. It asks you to look casual, to look down to earth. It is how you wear a white t-shirt that is so neutral and otherwise average that makes it undeniably stylish. When I was in Paris this past April I saw a woman walking on the street just around midnight. She was no older than twenty one and had her hair cut short. She had a number of piercings up each ear and wore almost no makeup. She was small in stature, just above 5’3 and wore what looked to be her boyfriend’s t-shirt. It was big and white. Over that she wore a pair of oversized jean overalls paired with black converse sneakers. She looked good. She looked carefree and happy. No, what she was wearing wasn’t expensive, but yet she gave off a certain fashionable personality when she walked.

In the next couple of photos I am wearing a white t-shirt. You do not see how I paired it. Instead you see how I wore it. I tend to be more of a natural person in how I get ready. I wear very little makeup as to not cover up my freckles and on occasion go for more of a pronounced lip shade like the one you will see in these pictures. One of my friends here at Oxford, Thomas Butler, captured the natural personality that comes with wearing a simple t-shirt like this. He is incredibly artistically minded and talented. What these pictures do for me is show the nature of the t-shirt. My eyes perhaps will show the personality that otherwise a styled outfit would convey. I would love to see how you wear a t-shirt. Maybe you pair it with a biker jacket or a long tulle skirt, or perhaps you will even just wear it with jeans. Make this otherwise ordinary staple tell who you are.
