Modern Traditional: Japan

Hello Everyone! School is back in full swing but Saturdays are still reserved for time with the family. The other night I went to the restaurant Japonais and had a delicious take on Japanese cuisine. The food is unconventional and the space is beautiful. Very modern yet evoking the essence of Japanese culture. For this shoot I am wearing an outfit that really speaks to what I believe Japan is all about as one of the forefronts of fashion innovation. The pieces themselves are untraditional by cut but are made of some of the most known materials of Japan; silk and cotton. The shoes mimic the sandal like geta of the traditional Japanese shoe but are elevated to modern times by giving them some height. Meshing both elements from culture now and from the past make your outfit that much more exciting to wear and for others to admire. Enjoy!

This next drawing is one I drew from one of my fashion illustration books. I was inspired to draw this particular image for it embodies the essence of fashion week. Designers pulling inspirations from across history to create a theme behind the collection yet making the beauty and the fantasy very present on the runway to create this surreal over the top effect. This combination is one that is seen to the tenth degree throughout all the shows this New York Fashion week!
